About Gemma Care

Gemma has always had a passion for telling stories and engaging with audiences big and small.

She started out in television production after graduating from University College Falmouth with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Broadcasting. Her subsequent career was as a producer mostly in the realms of sports tv.

However, it soon became clear that Gemma's biggest strength was her ability to reach out to audiences and engage with her interviewees on screen rather than behind it. After an opportunity to work as an onscreen reporter for the Star Sailors League in 2014, she has been presenting, reporting and hosting ever since. Working both on screen and stage, Gemma connects sports personalities, celebrities, brands and events with their audiences in a warm and personable manner with an infectious passion and energy.

Gemma has a diverse resume as well as a varied skill set and a range of interests including adventure, scuba diving, sharks, ocean and wildlife conservation and long distance running to name a few. Gemma is always thorough in researching every project she is involved with, this has allowed her to work on a huge range of projects and events.

Star Sailors League Live Reporter (2014)

- Interviewed the sailors live pre and post race.

- Provided live 'on the water reports' and recorded pieces to camera for daily review

Mercedes-Benz South West Q & A with Big Wave Surfer Andrew Cotton & Racing Driver Nick Hamilton (2015)

- Interviewed both guests in a live 'Top Gear Style' pop up studio with live audience in Mercedes-Benz show room

Shark Specialist/Wildlife Presenter for Discovery Channel (2015)

- Co-presenter and contributor to the Great White Shark episode of 'Predators Up Close with Joel Lambert'

- Individually and co-presented informative pieces to camera

- Presenting underwater with comms kit and full face masks whilst scuba diving

- 'Reactionary presenting' explaining and commentating on shark behaviour as it was happening, both underwater and from the boat.

- Diving with great white sharks - the best part of the whole shoot..of course!

Reporter for American Golf Championships/Sky Sports (2016 & 2017)

- Interviewing competitors during play for the following American Golf Championships: Long Drive, Junior Championships, UK National Championships; individual, Par 3 and Teams.

Live Reporter for F1H2O World Powerboat Championships (2016, 2017)

- Live reporting pieces to camera from the wet pit and dry pit

- Live reactionary interviews with drivers during qualification rounds and race day

- Live presenting with in-ear and throwing back to commentary team

Official Event Host for Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series and 35th America's Cup in Bermuda (2016 & 2017)

- Hosting on stage in the event village: 'dock out show' - gearing the audience up for racing, introducing and interviewing the sailing teams, informing the audience about the series.

- Hosting event prize giving on stage

- Introducing entertainment acts on stage, hosting crowd engagement activities and interviewing key figures and celebrities

- Presenting to camera for the 'pre show' - individual and co presented pieces both informative and entertainment based for social media and app tv.

Official Event Host Volvo Ocean Race (2018) Newport, Cardiff, Gothenburg, The Hague

- Hosting Arrivals Ceremony: crowd engagement as the boats arrive at the dock, interviewing skippers and hosting the arrivals awards ceremony. Very reactionary

- Sailors Parade and Dock Out Show: hosting the parade of local entertainment and sailing teams , hosting official proceedings with dignitaries, interview sailors and announce departure. Usually all for big crowds

- Hosting the Awards Evenings: Host/MC for the invite only awards dinners. Audiences from 800 - 3,000 people. Announcing speakers, winners and talking points for sponsors

Formula 1 Rolex British Grand Prix 2019 Event Host in Driver's Lounge & T1 Enclosure

- Hosted on stage in the VIP Driver's Lounge and presented for the event screen, also in T1 Enclosure

Presentation of the Land Rover Above and Beyond Collection in collaboration with Musto (Frankfurt Motor Show 2019)

- Hosted the presentation detailing the new collection including a Q & A with key designers and marketing managers from Land Rover and Musto

Live Presenter for WorldSkills UK Live Stream (2019)

- Hosted four 30min and 1 hour live shows from an on-location studio. Interviewed guests, linked to vt's and presented to a three camera set up.

Host for Vitality Netball Nations Cup 2020 Series

- Event host for all four match days in the series. Live interaction with the crowd, host live entertainment, interview players, voice of god announcements and host of awards ceremony.

Host 2020 England Netball Summit & Awards

- Hosted the day with group activities and guest speakers.

- Hosted the evening awards ceremony and dinner

Host/MC for Sport Relief Beat Beethoven 5K for BBC Radio 3 (2020)

- Host the race in the race village, interview celebrity guests: Gary Lineker, AJ and Curtis Pritchard, cheer and interact with the crowd.
